Roger Corman produced it on about $50,000 through his own company, Palo Alto Productions, and shot it in ten days in April 1954, with Jaguars lent by a local dealer and race scenes filmed at Monterey; Corman drove one of the race cars himself. American Releasing Corporation, soon renamed American International Pictures, released it. In 2001, Universal licensed the title for its own film.
